Planetary Influence on the Success of NFL & NBA Head Coaches – A Replication

This relatively simple experiment has produced consistent results, demonstrating significant planetary differences between NFL & NBA Champion versus non-champion head coaches, in both the signs & elements of the tropical zodiac.

The literature review alone makes this presentation worthwhile, bringing together decades of similar results too often overlooked, but so do the practical takeaways on the elemental differences between walking the walk and talking the talk.

Learn More About Courtney's Topic

We compared the planetary positions at birth of all the NFL Head Coaches of the Super Bowl era (1966 – present), using complete data sets to identify any differences between those who won championships (N=54) , and those who didn’t (N=168).  Our null hypothesis was simple: if the planetary positions at birth do not influence the native’s personality, character & destiny, then we should not see any significant or complementary differences, and no particular patterns should emerge. The resulting P-values demonstrate that the alternative hypothesis is much more plausible than the null hypothesis. We then used correlation coefficients to determine the degree to which the variables’ movements are associated, further quantifying the strength of the evidence against the null hypothesis in favor of the alternative. The significant and complementary differences between the data sets, in both the signs and elements of the Tropical Zodiac, are consistent with astrological theory and cannot be attributed to other factors like seasonal birth rates or the relative age effect.

In our first attempt at replication, we did the same with NBA Head Coaches, Champions versus Non-Champions.  While we would expect a certain amount of difference between these data sets, reflecting the differences between the leagues, the overall results are remarkably consistent.

Courtney is the Kepler Conference Coordinator, and the director of Canaveral Research.

Exploring Astrological Patterns in Recovery & Astrological Signatures of Psychic Mediums

Cassandra will present two separate studies which reflect the compilation of over three years of research work; 1) Astrological Patterns of Successful Alcohol Sobriety Dates examines the charts of recovered alcoholics, with the day they quit and  2) Astrological Signatures of Psychics and Mediums analyzes significant factors in the charts of professional Psychics/Mediums.

Two separate studies will be presented by Cassandra Joan Butler which reflect the compilation of over three years’ research work; 1) `Astrological Patterns of Successful Alcohol Sobriety Dates’ examines the charts of recovered alcoholics, with the day they quit; their sobriety dates. These dates, in the recovery journey, represent emotionally charged times of transformation and are treated as a ‘second birthday’ by many former drinkers. Butler’s research may indicate a correlation between timing and emotional receptivity in recovery as reflected by lunar affects.

2) `Astrological Signatures of Psychics and Mediums’ is an analysis of the charts of professional Psychics and Mediums. In a 2017 exploratory study, Butler’s noted specific elemental and house placement patterns which emerged in the charts of Psychics and mediums. During the 2018 presentation, Butler will test the findings of both research studies, within a larger sample size, and, apply additional criteria for analysis.

Rectification by Personality Traits

Is it possible to rectify a chart based solely on the analysis of personality traits?

In my Matching Protocol, lists of biographical traits were compared with lists of astrological traits generated by Mastro. I then used an automated mathematical tool to compare the 2 lists: the Semantic Proximity Estimator, which is a measuring instrument that calculates the level of semantic similarity between 2 lists of words. Using this tool, for a given day, we can rectify a birth chart by calculating 1440 charts in 1-minute increments. At the end, we obtain a curve that expresses the degree of resemblance between the psychological portrait and each of the 1440 astrological descriptions over 24 hours.

How can we validate such a rectification method?

Some may argue that the “actual birthtimes” are not reliable targets and that they are precisely what we try to “rectify” BUT there is a statistical way to overcome the difficulty…

Even if we can not rely on the exact legal time, we can still assume that, on average, we should fall reasonably close to the legal time. Indeed, a rectification technique could be validated by showing that even if it does not find the exact legal times, it finds solutions reasonably close to the legal times in a way that defies the laws of chance with a significant p-value.

In other words, if the method of rectification is correct, we can expect to statistically get among the highest peaks of the curve, at least one peak located at a “reasonable” distance from the legal time. It is a matter of defining the rules of what will be called a “reasonable” distance: what is the number of acceptable peaks? what is the maximum time deviation from legal time?

With a sample of 42 nativities, I am currently getting a p-value of less than 5/1000 which is significant.

Vincent is also speaking on Saturday at 1PM EST on his Matching Protocol.

He will demonstrate his Mastro Software on Friday Evening at 7PM EST in the Research Software Showcase.

About Vincent Godbout

Mathematician, mentalist, astrologer and designer of the Mastro Astrological Software expert system, Vincent Godbout holds a B.A., a B.Sc. in mathematics and a certificate in college education. From 1972 to 2006, he was a professor of mathematics.

As a designer of the PERMAMA master’s program of the Université du Québec, he co-authored three courses: Mathematics and Human Activity, Mathematical Contributions of Antiquity and Problem Solving. He is also the author a French adaptation of the best seller Thomas and Finney’s Differential and Integral Calculus.
Quite passionate about astrology since 1976, in 1981 he becomes the owner of the astrological bookstore Nouvel Athanor where, in collaboration with Axel Harvey, he was the first to offer computerized services to Montreal astrologers. At that time, he created and animated the «Soirées Mystères», a kind of weekly divinatory astrological game open to astrologers and the general public.

In the 1980s, in addition to consultations, he lectured on research and statistics in astrology as well as on Cosmobiology. In 1988, he published an article in the magazine Considerations (Vol IV No. 3) which marked the origin of his reflection on what he calls probabilistic semantics. This new approach led him to develop automated tools to support astrological interpretation.

Retired from teaching since 2006, he is passionate about music and classical singing and he enjoys his other career as a mentalist, under the pseudonym of Mentalo. More importantly, he devotes most of his time to astrological research and the development of Mastro.

 The Precessional Structure of Time

With Robert Tulip, MA

Considering the solar system as a unitary whole, the astrological framework of Zodiac Ages is shown to exhibit resonance with the overall wave function of the solar system, seen in the regular pattern of the movement of the sun around the solar system barycentre or centre of mass, caused by the 178.9 year triple conjunction period of Jupiter, Saturn and Neptune.  This resonance illustrates the twelve-based structure of time defining the orbital dynamics of earth in the solar system, as a basis for empirical analysis of Zodiac Ages.

Learn More About Robert's Topic

Considering the solar system as a unitary whole, the astrological framework of Zodiac Ages is shown to exhibit resonance with the overall wave function of the system, seen in the regular pattern of the movement of the sun around the solar system barycentre (SSB) or centre of mass.

Zodiac Ages, defined by the average time period (2148 years) of the precession of the equinox through each of the twelve zodiac constellations, are a physical product of the wobble of earth’s axis.  The spin wobble has period 25771.5 years, known as the Great Year (GY), and is caused by lunisolar torque operating on the bulge around earth’s equator.  The question why the spin wobble period should be divided by twelve to produce Zodiac Ages of length 2148 years is considered arbitrary by astronomy, and without clear start and end points.  Here I explain how Zodiac Ages have a dynamic astrophysical mechanism in resonance with the structure of time of the solar system.

The SSB wave function combines all orbital factors in the solar system into an integrated measure, with regular period of around 178.9 years produced by the triple conjunction period of Jupiter (J), Saturn (S) and Neptune (N). 9 x JS =~ 5 x SN =~ 14 x JN =~ 178.9 years = 25761/144.  The result of this equation is that the zodiac age period of 2148 years, defined as one twelfth of the Great Year, is also twelve times the SSB period, within reasonable margin.  This common 1/12 fraction creates a hitherto unknown resonant relationship between the SSB and the Great Year through the Zodiac Age.

The SSB wave period is the same (correcting for his error) as what Dane Rudhyar defined in his book Astrological Timing as the house of the age. Rudhyar used the conventional rough estimate of 2160 years for a Zodiac Age, giving a house period of 180 years and degree of precession of 72 years. He was not aware that these estimates are inaccurate, or of the dynamic equivalent of the house in the gas giant SSB cycle.  The equivalence ratio is 178.9/180 = 2148/2160.

A further reason why the JSN SSB triple conjunction cycle defines a real structure of time with direct astrological meaning is that each successive JSN conjunction occurs 30° after the previous one, in a pattern that drifts in and out of precision like the lunar eclipse Saros Cycle.   This GY/SSB = 144 resonance provides a physical framework for the cyclic structure of time of our planet, nesting the twelve sign structure of astrology in a big slow regular pattern of the gas giants that has been stable for billions of years.

This house framework provides a physical basis to define the Age of Pisces, due to the fact that JSN conjunctions occurred at tropical sign cusps, with the ‘house of Aries’ beginning in 53 AD, Taurus in 232, etc as shown in this diagram. This Piscean cycle was tightest at the JSN conjunction of 17-20 July 769 AD, and has since drifted apart.  A more recent cycle was tightest in 1523.  The coming five year wide triple conjunction in 2021-25 is part of the 769 cycle, and can be considered the start of the twelfth or Piscean house of the Zodiac Age of Pisces.

"I have been attending astrology conferences since 1972...

The Kepler Conference is the best one ever!

I learned something new and of value in every lecture. I have never experienced this before. I also learned a lot during breaks, lunch meetings, etc. I have never attended so many brilliant presentations.

This is much more than just another conference. It’s a new movement in astrology.

Astrology is at last entering the 21st century! "

Alex Trenoweth, MA

"Courtney Roberts was able to assemble a fine and diverse cast of researchers for this groundbreaking conference…

Most of us came away with the clear idea that we had set a very high bar for future astrology conferences.  We… also felt we had thrown down the gauntlet to the scientific community who continue to disregard astrology as medieval superstition.

I think this was one of the best astrology conferences I've ever been to!

I think we made history this weekend."

Will Morris, PhD

Thanks to Courtney Roberts!

"This conference was packed with useful information and ... the highest levels of dialogue I have experienced, including astrological conferences, innovations in medical education conferences at USC, Chinese medicine conferences and international conferences on qualitative inquiry.

This was a landmark moment.

Anyone who thinks of astrology as pseudoscience is clearly not approaching the problem scientifically!"

... truly a privilege!

So glad I made the trip. ...this conference will have a profound influence on the way I see the future of Astrology,  and our part in aiding it on its way.
